2009 Christmas

2009 Christmas

Coming to see Grandpa and Grandma for Christmas .

We had such a wonderful time with every one coming home for Christmas. What a fantastic gift for me. We had so much fun. We played at the parks when it was warm ; flew kites when it was windy and built a snow man when we had snow. Only in Texas can you do all these things in one week. I love it.

2009 Appian Way an then Home

After walking in Rome for several days we did not want to walk any more. I really wanted to go see the Appian Roads. Where we exited the bus at the Appian Road there was a little cafe where we had lunch. I told Steve if I would owned this little cafe I would rent bikes As soon as I said that, Steve pointed at a sign in front of us that said "rent a bike"so we did. It was a great day for it and it was a wonderful relief for our feet.

But it is time to go home. Christmas is almost here and all grandchildren coming.

Yes, this is our Plane. A fire alarm went off in the restroom behind us and we had to exit the airplane and wait for about 2 more hours. We finally got to take off in the same plane. A little scary but we made it home. Now 4 more days before every one comes to Graham.

2009 Rome

2009 Rome

Now off to Rome where we turned in the car-no driving in Rome! Rome is always a must see city; there is always something new to see. Just remember not to try and find the places you went to before. Lesson learned. We did some new exciting things after we stopped to reminisce where we found some things were gone we found before. We got to go underneath the Vatican. Wow (sorry no pictures allowed)but a sooo must see . There is about 50 to 60 thousand people that visit the Vatican a week but only about 125 can go underneath the Vatican. Incredible!!!! The Vatican was build on top of an old burial ground .They only uncover about 25 ?catacombs? and they think that there is about 400 to 500 of these. Original roads, walls and, when you just look right you can see where Saint Peter is buried.

2009 Driving in Tuscany

2009 Tuscany

Wow! What an experience! Driving in the country is not so bad; glad we had a Garmin. The countryside was very beautiful. Then we came to a walled city and we tried to find a place to spend the night. It was not easy. We walked all over and all the places were already booked so we tried one more time; And finally we got one(fantastic). The owner gave directions how to drive up here. That was a challenge! very very very.... small roads. We did good. Glad to have a place to stay. It was a great place.

What did it say ???

2009 After

After the Wedding every one went different ways. Stacy and Johnathan went back to Texas.

Trisha and Jeremy Morse left for Switzerland and then Germany. Steve and I rented a car and drove all over Tuscany .

2009 Italy Wedding

2009 Wedding in Tuscany

Trisha and Granny Proud Daddy

Off to Italy (Florence) where Trisha and Jeremy were to be married. The first few days we walked all over Florence. We also took the train out to Pisa. Everything was just wonderful. No place for the Wedding at the moment. Then on December 2nd Trisha decided that she really did not see the perfect place to get married in Florence . At home (Texas) she did find a winery that looked very nice; also Roma saw this one on the Internet. So the day before she had sceduled the wedding she said lets just call the winery and see. So she did and the next thing was a fairy tale wedding!! About 40 km south of Florence on top of a hill there was this beautiful small Chapel at a winery and a restaurant(that had a Greek party and they were fascinated with our small wedding and even took pictures) along with a sunset that was incredible, especially for the photographer that took so many wonderful pictures (Thanks Stacy). The wedding was just wonderful. A story to remember and tell.

I do!!!!
